Message from Martin M0MWS on behalf of the Committee and Club members :

Thanks to all who attended our rally at Wildhern on Sunday 25th April 2010, it was nice to see you all.  It was a very successful day with sellers selling and buyers buying! Also the weather held of and the early slight drizzle came to nothing. (Thank goodness).

I hope you met up with old friends, talked radio, sampled the excellent bacon rolls and generally had a good time. We look forward to meeting you all again on the 22nd August. And once again thank you for making our Boot Sales successful.
73 and Kind Regards

During the year we hold various events and participate in a number of Amateur Radio orientated events.  In 2010 we carried out a number of Radio Foxhunts, which were great fun and also participated in the Jamboree on the Air which is an annual event on behalf of the Scouting Association and Mills on the Air from Whitchurch Silk Mill.

We participated in the 23rd International Marconi Day which commenced at 00:00 on 24th April 2010 and ran for 24 hours.  We were lucky enought to be transmitting from Netheravon Air Field during the Friday evening and continued on through the night mainly on 40m and 80m.  For more information on International Marconi Day, please click here : IMD website

The first Club Car Boot Sale was held on Sunday 25th April 2010 at Wildhern playing field adjacent to the Village Hall.  It was very well supported by both stalls and buyers.   Check out the photos in the Gallery !

We also participated in the Mills on the Air this year.  This is an event that has been running nationally for 9 years in conjunction with the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).  It took place on 8th/9th May 2010 and we transmitted from Whitchurch Silk Mill using the special event callsign of GB0WSM.  The event was co-ordinated by Rick, G8NDN.  For more information regarding SPAB or the Mills on the Air event, please click on the following links : SPAB National Mills Weekend or Mills on the Air

We also ran Radio Foxhunts regularly between June and September - it's superbly good fun to take part and there was even a £25 prize for the winner, so it really is worth coming along !  The Foxhunts starting point is SU251441 on OS map 184 (Toplis Hill on the old A303), the first transmission is at 7:00pm or 7:30pm (depending on the available light).

On Tuesday July 20th 2010 Stan,G4MOE held a workshop on Half wave end fed antenna.  After an initial introduction and theory overview, Stan proceeded to show how the aerial is tuned during production and then its use. (Using an FT 817).  Much interest was generated and I expect many will be built by club members.  Thanks go to Stan for sharing his knowledge and experience with the club.

The Autumn Car Boot Sale took place on Sunday 22nd August 2010 and considering the weather, was very successful, raising much needed funds for the Club.  The Christmas meal this year was held on Tuesday the 14th December 2010 at The Boot Inn, Shipton Bellinger, Tidworth - photos are in the Gallery.
